Testing Guidelines

In addition, Telmon, Inc. provides certification results, as defined by EIA/TIA Level II certification standards, for each cable run installed, to ensure compliance to Telecommunications Standards guidelines. This allows Telmon, Inc. to offer a lifetime warranty on installations, as defined by our Warranty and Maintenance statement.

Additional Standards

The installation practices as defined, unfortunately, allow some room for interpretation, which allows a variance in installation performance by communications contractors. To alleviate this, Telmon, Inc. specifies the following additional guidelines to ensure the quality of its installations:

- Telmon, Inc. will provide its own cable supports in the ceiling, mounted to the upper deck, rather than attaching to existing ceiling hangers such as ceiling grid support. This allows Telmon, Inc. to control the path of the cable installation to ensure that all cables will be neatly bundled, taking care to maintain better than minimum required distances from potential sources of Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI) and Radio-Frequency Interference (RFI) and meet minimum bending radius requirements as specified by EIA/TIA standards.

- Telmon, Inc. feels that cable management is the most critical component of an installation. Telmon, Inc. pays particularly close attention to how cables are dressed into the termination closet, so that proper cable management and maintenance may be achieved.

Data station cables will be terminated at the host equipment location sequentially, from lowest to highest, on distribution panels which are mounted to a free standing equipment rack. The station cables will be routed overhead via an installed ladder rack and terminated on the appropriate distribution panel.

All station cables will be bundled and neatly secured such that each cable run may be followed from point-to-point, with no twists, kinks or "divers"in the bundle. This provides for superior cable performance, in addition to being easier to maintain and providing an aesthetically pleasing appearance. The bundle will be secured by zip ties placed at every 6 inches, observing proper tension specifications around the cable bundles, and cleated to the wall at every third zip tie.

The front face of the distribution rack will have cable management panels and guides installed such that patch cable connectivity will not obscure the front face of the rack to the point of being unmanageable, and each patch cable will follow an obvious path from point-to-point. The method employed uses a combination of vertical and horizontal management and preplanning of the rack face to accommodate a density factor of no more than 1:2 on the termination plane. This allows proper space for cable management to be employed.

Telmon, Inc. will provide a service loop in each cable run to accommodate minor location adjustments for future use.

Warranty and Maintenance for Network Transport/Cabling Systems
Back to top

Telmon, Inc. will fully test and certify the communications cable plant as installed prior to acceptance by the Customer to ensure EIA/TIA 568 Level II compliance for all network transport media as installed. In the event that any defects are found, Telmon, Inc. will correct the defects at its own cost prior to system acceptance. In the event that any defects are found following system acceptance by our customers, Telmon, Inc. will repair or replace the defects at its own cost, subject to the following provisions:

  • Customer will notify Telmon, Inc. with location, type of trouble and related information such that Telmon, Inc. can make the necessary provisions needed to correct the defect.
  • Telmon, Inc. will warrant the materials used for the installation for the period of time stated in the manufacturer’s warranty, or for a minimum of five years, the term which offers the longer coverage of the material being the governing covenant.
  • Telmon, Inc. will warrant the installation labor for as long as the installation remains in its initially installed state. In the event that changes must be made to the installation, Telmon, Inc. will enforce the warranty coverage provided that Telmon, Inc. is allowed to make the changes necessary and then re-certify the installation.
